Writing Interview Feedback

The interview is done and still fresh in your mind — this is the moment to capture what you thought before it fades. Lavalier can draft structured feedback for you from the transcript and your notes, or you can write your own, then refine either one until it's right. Capturing it now keeps the hiring loop moving and gives the rest of your team a clear, consistent read to weigh later.

How to Write Interview Feedback

From the Interview Summary:

1. After ending an interview, you'll see the Write Feedback button in the top-right of the interview summary
2. Click it to open the feedback form
   
   

From the Interview View:

If you're still in the interview view, switch to the Write Feedback tab in the right panel. The feedback tools activate once the interview ends.

From Other Places:

• Candidates page — Select the candidate, find the interview, and click Open Feedback
• Interview Calendar — Find the interview on the homepage and click Open Feedback
  
  

Choose Your Recommendation

Select your hiring recommendation from the options your company has configured. The defaults are "Strong hire," "Hire," "No hire," and "Strong no hire," and your admin can customize these labels in your Hiring Rubrics. Your recommendation helps frame your feedback and influences how Lavalier generates suggestions.

Generate or Write Your Feedback

Option 1: Let Lavalier Generate It

Click Generate Feedback and Lavalier writes comprehensive feedback based on:

• The interview transcript
• Your notes and timestamped markers
• The interview analysis
• Your hiring recommendation

The AI creates detailed feedback that emphasizes relevant strengths or concerns based on your recommendation, saving you time while capturing important details.

Note: If there isn't enough interview data to auto-generate feedback, you'll be prompted to write it manually instead.

Option 2: Write It Yourself

Start typing in the feedback editor. Your feedback saves automatically every few seconds as you write.

Tip: For interviews synced from an ATS, click Open in [ATS] on the feedback toolbar to jump directly to the matching scorecard.

Refine Your Feedback (Optional)

Already have feedback but want to improve it?

1. Click Tweak Feedback
2. Give specific instructions like:
   • "Add more detail about their technical skills"
   • "Focus more on communication style"
   • "Make it more concise"
3. Lavalier refines your feedback based on your instructions while preserving important quotes and observations

If you change your recommendation, Lavalier will prompt you to update the feedback to match your new rating.

Once a few people have interviewed, compare candidates side by side to see who fits best. Your feedback saves automatically and is visible to the rest of the hiring team, so everyone's working from the same picture.
