Creating and Scheduling Interviews

Modified on Tue, 10 Feb at 2:28 PM

Lavalier can record your interviews automatically—whether you're meeting over video, on the phone, or in person. Start recording right away or schedule interviews in advance.

How to Create an Interview

You can create interviews from the Hiring Feed, Roles page, or a candidate's profile. Look for the Interview button.

  1. Click Interview and choose when:

    • Start Interview — Begin recording immediately
    • Schedule Interview — Set up for a future date and time
  2. Select an existing candidate or create a new one, then choose the role

  3. Choose your interview type:

    • Virtual Meeting — Paste your meeting URL (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or Webex). Lavalier's notetaker joins automatically.
    • Phone Call — Enter the candidate's phone number and select your verified caller ID. Lavalier places the call and records both sides.
    • In-Person — Record using your computer's microphone.
  4. For scheduled interviews, add:

    • Who's conducting the interview
    • Date and time
    • Expected duration
  5. Click Interview Now to start immediately, or Schedule Interview to save for later

What Happens Next

Once your interview is created:

  • Start the interview — Learn how to conduct the interview and what to expect during recording
  • Write feedback — After the interview, provide structured feedback to help your team make hiring decisions
  • View scheduled interviews — Find all your upcoming interviews on the Hiring Feed

Troubleshooting

Error: "Virtual interviews require a valid meeting URL"

Make sure you're pasting a complete meeting link that starts with https://. Lavalier supports links from Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and Webex.

Error: "Please enter a valid US phone number"

Phone interviews currently support US numbers only. Enter the number in this format: +1 followed by 10 digits (for example, +1 555-123-4567).

My phone number isn't showing up

You need to verify your phone number first. When scheduling a phone interview, click Verify a New Phone Number under "Appear to Caller ID As," enter your number, and click Verify Number. Lavalier will call you to complete verification. Once verified, it'll appear in the caller ID dropdown.
