Integrity Signals help you spot when something about an interview deserves a closer look. They cover things like answers that sound read aloud, detail that fades under follow-up, or long pauses before answering. After every interview, Lavalier reviews the conversation and flags what it noticed, with links to the exact moments in the transcript so you can judge for yourself.
Where to Find Integrity Signals
Open any interview and click the Integrity tab.
- Before and during the interview, the tab lists the signals that will be analyzed afterward under "Integrity signals will be analyzed post-interview." Click any signal to read what Lavalier looks for.
- Résumé questions — Under Worried about candidate fraud?, Lavalier suggests a few easy-to-answer questions drawn from the candidate's résumé. Ask one, and Lavalier listens to the answer and tells you whether it came back specific or stayed general.
- After the interview, once processing finishes, the tab shows the results.
If an interview has any risk signals, a red icon appears next to the Integrity tab label. The Summary & Analysis tab adds a Risk Signals line that links straight to the Integrity tab.
What Lavalier Looks For
| Signal | What it checks |
|---|---|
| Speaking and answering naturally? | Whether the candidate's speech sounds composed on the spot, or read from something |
| Does detail hold up in follow-up? | When the interviewer pushes deeper, whether more detail comes back |
| Avoiding answers to follow-up questions? | When asked to expand, whether the candidate takes up the question or steers away from it |
| Do demonstrated skills match the résumé? | Whether the depth the candidate shows matches the seniority their résumé claims |
| Do résumé claims hold up when probed? | When the interviewer asks one of Lavalier's suggested résumé questions, whether the answer comes back with the detail of lived experience |
| Delays to research answers? | How long the candidate takes to get to substance on questions where looking something up would help. Phone interviews only. |
Note: Résumé questions aren't available on AI Screens, since there's no interviewer to ask them.
Reading the Results
Each signal lands in one of three groups:
- Risk Signals — Something worth reviewing, like "Answers became less detailed on follow-up."
- Trust Signals — Evidence pointing the other way, like "Answers got more specific, or held, when pushed."
- No Signals — Not enough to go on either way, like "Not enough follow-up probes to compare depth." That isn't a good or bad result.
Click Show details on any signal to see why Lavalier reached that result, along with the supporting evidence. Click a piece of evidence to jump to that moment in the transcript.
Tip: Treat signals as a prompt to look closer, not as a verdict. The same pattern can have innocent causes. A long pause might mean careful thinking or a connection lag, and very polished speech can come from rehearsal or answering in a second language. Listen to the flagged moments before drawing conclusions.
Changing a Signal
If you've reviewed the recording and disagree with Lavalier's call, you can change it:
- Click Show details on the signal
- Click the pencil icon (Change this signal)
- Choose Trust Signal or Risk Signal
- Under What evidence did you observe?, explain what you saw. This is required.
- Click Save
Your comment replaces Lavalier's explanation on the card, the signal moves to its new group, and the card shows Changed by with your name. To undo it, open the same dialog and click Delete Changes.
Only interviewers on the interview can change its signals. On AI Screens, anyone with full access to the job can.
Spotting Risk Across Your Pipeline
You don't have to open every interview to find risk signals. On a job's pipeline, a red Integrity Risk Signals icon appears on a candidate's card when any of their interviews has a risk signal. Hover it to see which interviews were flagged, then click one to open its Integrity tab. The same flag also appears in the hiring recommendation tooltip on the candidate's profile.
What's next?
- Write interview feedback — Capture your assessment while the interview is fresh
- Compare candidates — See how candidates stack up for the job
- Use AI Screening — Integrity Signals run on AI Screens too
Troubleshooting
I don't see the Integrity tab
Solution: Integrity Signals aren't available on every account. If you don't see the Integrity tab on your interviews, contact Lavalier support.
The Integrity tab says "No integrity signals are available for this interview yet"
Solution: Lavalier analyzes signals after the interview ends and processing finishes. Check back in a few minutes. Short interviews, or ones with few follow-up questions, may produce fewer signals.
I can't change a signal
Solution: The pencil icon only appears after you click Show details on a signal. For live interviews, only the interviewers on that interview can change its signals. Ask one of them, or check that you're listed as an interviewer.
The Save button is greyed out when I change a signal
Solution: Describe the evidence you observed in the What evidence did you observe? field. A comment is required so your team can see why the signal changed.
